By Attorney, Kevin Von Tungeln
Did you know that, according to statistics, almost 50% of individuals over the age of 60 are dealing with some kind of disability? An estimated 250 million seniors are experiencing some form of moderate or severe disability. The current cost of care in California can range from $4,000 per month for an assisted facility, up to over $6,000 per month for in-home care and upwards of over $11,500 per month for a skilled nursing facility!
These costs of care for seniors that require care will only go up and these financial burdens can be disastrous to those who fail to properly plan. Nursing care costs are one of the biggest threats to the middle class and their families!
Medi-Cal Can Help Pay for All (or Some) of Your Long Term Medical Care in a Skilled Nursing Facility
Medi-Cal is California's version of the federal Medicaid healthcare program. Supported by federal and state taxes, Medi-Cal pays for a variety of medical services for children and adults. Regardless of sex, race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, age, disability, or veteran status, anyone can apply for Medi-Cal benefits.
While a primary qualification for Medi-Cal is financial need, there are other qualifiers that open up Medi-Cal for Long Term Care for the middle class. It is a common misconception from our clients that they can't qualify for Long Term Medi-Cal. However, that is rarely true. We have had great success in helping our clients get Medi-Cal for Long Term Care when a catastrophe strikes.
How TVT Can Help
Having directly seen how devastating the cost of nursing care can be to families and their loved ones, Thompson | Von Tungeln has assisted many clients with their long-term nursing care planning without our clients having to spend all their assets before qualifying for help. There are many options to consider, depending on the level of care needed or desired.
